I don’t know

“‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will take a shoot from the very top of a cedar and plant it; I will break off a tender sprig from its topmost shoots and plant it on a high and lofty mountain. On the mountain heights of Israel I will plant it; it will produce branches and bear fruit and become a splendid cedar. Birds of every kind will nest in it; they will find shelter in the shade of its branches. All the trees of the forest will know that I the Lord bring down the tall tree and make the low tree grow tall. I dry up the green tree and make the dry tree flourish.

“‘I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it.’”
Ezekiel 17:22-24 (NIV)

The thought for this week is simple: I don’t know but I know God knows. Sounds simple enough doesn’t it? Well that’s until you are smack-dab in the middle of a life crisis. When you are going through stuff (and I mean serious stuff), you don’t know top from bottom. Sometimes you are so confused you don’t know anything at all. I have picked up the phone and dialed someone’s number only to forget completely who I was calling. I forget people’s names, forget appointments, forget where I put things aka some days I am permanently confused. Thankfully I am not alone; just ask anyone going through menopause and they will agree with what I’ve described (because I am speaking to you from very personal experience).  Continue reading

Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes – who are they, and where did they come from?”  I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, “they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.

‘Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor any scorching heat.  For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’

‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’

Revelation 7:13-17 (NIV)

I happened across this verse late one night while going through a file of old worn papers.  Now if you are a child of God you would know that there are no coincidences, and so I paused to really take in the words – maybe because ‘tribulation’ was truly my middle name at the time.

With Life Comes Hope & Blessings

“The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.” Deuteronomy 28:12 (NIV)

It’s that time …

We usually take a long hard look at ourselves and our lives at the beginning of a new year. January 01 rolls around and out come the planners, journals or online schedulers to be filled with our resolutions for the next 12 months. However, some of us find it hard to get started.  We are filled with regret for dreams shelved not to be realised, depressed due to being out of work or having lost a loved one, wondering how we will pay our educational/medical bills, or just trying to stay afloat for one more day.

On the other side of this coin are those of us who know that no matter what life may look like right now, there is the ever present knowledge that ‘this too shall pass”! Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, lasts forever; the good times come and go (kind of unfortunate but it’s a fact), and so will the bad times.  Life is circle folks and you are either up on the top or down at the bottom BUT the circle will turn! Click to tweet

The future is bright

As we look out to 2015 with hopes for renewal, reinvention and ground-breaking awesome change in our lives, let us hold on to these facts:

  • where there is life there is hope
  • where there is friendship and family there is love
  • where there is God there is peace

May this year be even more than you could ever possibly wish it to be … the rains of prosperity are coming 🙂
