When we need to find a little help

daily living psalms

Love this psalm! It’s words are so comforting, especially if you find yourself drowning in deadlines, projects and people.

Aren’t you glad that God promises to keep us and to help us?

I am … and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Continue reading

Is there something about you which must be kept hidden in the darkest dark? Would it ‘kill’ you if anyone found out about your secret? But wait, how can you have a testimony which encourages others if it’s a secret? How does that work? By telepathy? Maybe osmosis … hmmmmm …. not really sure, are we … Continue reading

For when you are at the end of your rope

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

The last few days have been rough yet very productive.  As I engaged with others while trying to tick those pesky items off my never-ending To Do List, I realised that many of us are seriously struggling with what I call “life matters”. We need gainful employment with fair salaries, we need money to feed and clothe our children, we need sound emotional support from our friends and loved ones, and we in turn want to be able to support others too (whether we do it via a charitable organisation or personally).  And then there’s the big ‘time’ issue – not enough time to do all of the things that need to be done. There are so many heart-breaking stories circulating … it’s a tough sad time for a lot of people.

But what can we do from our own little corner?  In exchange for grumbling and/or complaining, we can do the best we can to be there for our brother/sister – because every little helps. There are still blessings to be shared i.e. loving thoughts, hugs, a text or e-card to a friend, a note of encouragement in your child’s lunch box or your spouse’s pocket, a scripture verse or prayer dedicated to someone who has lost a loved one – and guess what? Most of these are free!

So the theme for this month is: support, support and more support!  Just as we prepare for back-to-school, Christmas and Thanksgiving let’s prepare: for Back-to-Blessing.  Here’s how: for the next 30 days actively share some of your blessings with others every single day and by so doing be a witness of God’s awesome care … it can be done!

“The end of your rope is God’s permanent address.”
