“Waiting makes me restless. When I’m ready, I’m ready.” ~ Reba McEntire
“I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.” ~ Psalms 130:5-6
Everyone who knows me well will tell you: “Gale hates to wait.” It’s so bad I would rather drive a longer route than sit in traffic.
This is all kind of ironic really, seeing as how a great deal of my life is spent sitting in airports or on tarmacs waiting to travel from one country to another (the latter shown in the photo above which was taken at the Maurice Bishop International Airport in Grenada). I have also spent a lot of my spiritual life in a state of waiting – waiting to hear from God, waiting to know what He wants me to do, waiting until I have no choice but to be brave and take action instead of being a wimp.
After all this time however, I can tell you I am getting better at this waiting thing … well, I am giving it my best effort but admit some days are harder than others. I still hate waiting, but I have learnt that I hate being stressed out from waiting even more than the waiting itself.
Do you like waiting? How do you pass the time when you have no choice but to wait a situation out e.g. at the hairdresser, in a doctor’s office, battling bumper-to-bumper traffic, at the airport when your flight is delayed? Maybe you just don’t mind while others like me go bonkers. Share with us and let’s start a conversation!
