“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” (Psalm 90:17)
“There is always the danger that we may just do the work for the sake of the work. This is where the respect and the love and the devotion come in – that we do it to God, to Christ, and that’s why we try to do it as beautifully as possible.” ~ Mother Teresa
And The Answer Is …
OK. I don’t know the exact answer to this question. Maybe it’s maybe or sometimes, rather than an outright yes or no. Does it depend on the type of work? Who you work with? The length of your commute to and from the office? How long your job keeps you away from your family? There were just so many different variables to consider!
So maybe you can be happy and find meaning in your work – if it’s your own business and your entrepreneurial spirit is getting to shine brilliantly for all to see. Maybe you could be happy if you know your hard work is not only meaningful but paying off aka there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe your work would be meaningful if your boss would make up his or her mind as to what they really want you to do … because without a vision or mission people really do ‘perish’ (vegetate, become passive, up and leave after a while).
What Does Job Happiness Really Look Like?
I think the norm is that most of us who work have good days and bad days. Happy/happiness can be such a transient state of mind, and yes – it’s more about how you see something rather than what that thing actually is. And that’s why I am sharing this little flyer below, while admitting that these suggestions do not apply only to Barbados, are not the solutions to every single problem you may experience, but strongly believe they could be steps to lead us in the right direction. Let’s remember that we only have one life to live; let’s make it meaningful and happy as best we can even if it is through our daily work while trying to do the same for others as well. Special thanks to the “Let’s do it Barbados” for sharing initially 🙂
“Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.” (Ephesians 4:28)

“Nothing will work unless you do.” ~ Maya Angelou
‘Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” ~ Vince Lombardi
