Drummers in South Africa

I was fortunate to visit Cape Town in 2012 to attend an incentive event related to my job. The colors, sights and sounds of this South African capital city (one of three) were amazing. Being a Caribbean girl, I especially loved the African drummers with their hypnotic rhythms and unique chants as they let us glimpse a bit of their culture in dance/song. It was definitely a trip never to be forgotten; thanks to the WordPress Photo Challenge for helping me to remember these good times 🙂

“Dance culture permeates South Africa, be it in the streets of its shanty towns or on the stages of its magnificent art houses, South African dancers have always displayed the kind of skill that leaves audiences awestruck. A naturally rhythmic country that, to a certain extent, jived to its freedom.”
