There are so many of us in the world today who lack something. We don’t have jobs, meaningful relationships, houses or cars, food or clothing, children or grand-children; a lot of human beings do not have love, protection or even the right to life (think of the many refugees who are victims of war and have nowhere to live).
When I took this photo one evening, our lime tree was literally into overdrive. Even though we lacked more hours in a day or a little more cash in hand, we definitely did not lack the ability to make lemonade, season fish/meat or add flavor to a drink (mostly alcoholic, admittedly). ‘Bestest’ of all, we did not lack the opportunity to give to others.
Over the past few weeks we have donated limes and more limes to neighbours, family and friends. Yet the tree bears on even though we can tell the harvest will soon come to an end. We have had a few financial challenges lately and the struggle is real in trying to make ends meet but the greatest lesson for us during this time? In the midst of lack there will always be lemonade and the potential to strengthen relationships – because God is still with us.
Today I am therefore enjoying a grateful state of mind … for limes, lemonade and love; rock on dear lime tree, rock on 🙂

A WordPress Photo Challenge post – State of mind: “Every photo we take says something about our emotions at the moment of taking it. So this week, share an image where you see a particularly strong connection between what we see and what you felt as you pressed that shutter button on your camera or phone.”
