“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27 (NIV)

We are sooooo surrounded by violence these days it’s downright scary. Murder is everywhere, closely followed by intolerance and exploitation. Is it safe to even leave your home? I am beginning to think not. But then again, it appears that people hold no fear these days when it comes to breaking and entering your home in broad daylight … and with you right there in it too. What are we to do?
I don’t know but in sharing a life experience with a friend recently here’s how our conversation ended:
“You need to know what you want Gale.”
“I may not know what I want, but I know for sure what I don’t want.”
“Well that’s a start because all I want for you is peace, and I mean peace of mind because that’s the most important thing of all.”
I found this declaration to be so profound! Peace of mind is indeed the best gift you could wish for anyone – maybe because as children of God we should always remember that He has us tucked safely in His hands no matter what. And with that knowledge comes a calmness and assuredness that just cannot be explained.
And so I’m not only sharing this wish for peace with you but also these tips on “How to Find 2 Minutes of Peace” as well as how we can think about “Peace in the Midst of the Storm“. Let’s pray that God will continue to protect us even as He touches the hearts of all men with His amazing love and peace that ‘passeth all understanding’. May your days be totally and awesomely … peaceful 🙂
”I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NIV)
”Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11 (NIV)
