WPC: A Twisty Oops!

One WordPress Photo challenge encouraged us to find a different take on the word: “Twist” and included the following: “it’s the unexpected, it’s surprise, it’s even an amazing ice cream choice”.  Then along came a second challenge theme: “share a photographic “Oops!” moment with us”.

So being a mother with an arsenal of twisting stories which end up in an oops here and an oops there, I felt there was no better photo than the one below (which I could not resist taking so my son in his latter years would know I was telling the truth) which is a clear example of a “Twisty Oops”.

Here was how the scenario played out early one morning as we were getting ready for work and school:

Me: Nathan, please help me by taking two apples from the refrigerator and packing them in my lunch bag while I brush my teeth.

Nathan: OK mom.

Now, fast forward to early afternoon when I opened my lunch bag at the office, expecting to see the two apples I had asked Nathan to pack only to find … yup, two beautiful red tomatoes. Guess I should have been happy he at least got his colours right, but what a twist on a simple instruction and what an oops!

Tomatoes, apples, teenagers

“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.”
Psalm 127:3-5
