” “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ ”
Matthew 25:34-36 (NIV)

This video albeit part of a social experiment was a real eye opener. It left me disheartened. Why?
Because it’s really sad that so many people have become jaded over time as a result of the exploitation of children. And this leads to genuine cases of need being overlooked even though the scenes play out right there in front of us.
Having never been homeless or hungry myself, research has proven beyond a doubt that the struggle for the homeless is real but like me, you may be afraid your hard-earned money could in actuality be used to buy drugs or alcohol. But we can still give ‘in kind’ rather than cash. There’s a meal, coffee, bottles of water or even warm clothing … but please give something! Let’s wise up and actively do our part no matter where we live.
Do you acknowledge the homeless or hungry in your neighbourhood? How? Leave us a comment.
