“Be as a bird perched on a frail branch that she feels bending beneath her, still she sings away all the same, knowing she has wings.”
Victor Hugo

Our neighbourhood abounds with birds of every description but the most common are sparrows and blackbirds. Occasionally we get wood doves and larger pigeons but these tend to be a little more shy i.e. it doesn’t matter how plentiful the goodies are, we’ll just watch the other birds as they snack but from our perch on high.

Unfortunately my little camera doesn’t have a lens powerful enough to zoom in properly … I’m working on that 🙂

“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.”
C. S. Lewis

“I think we consider too much the good luck of the early bird and not enough the bad luck of the early worm.”
Franklin D. Roosevelt
