Resistance to change … it’s usually futile

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
― Lao Tzu

I tend to resist change; a lot. As long as it’s working and working well, why bother to reinvent the wheel? I take the same route into the office, have basically the same routine when getting ready for work and prefer to know rather than not know.

Yet the only thing constant in this life is indeed change. But what does change actually look like? Is it your child growing up, taking raw ingredients and creating a tasty meal, or simply watching different things go through different stages?

To me, one of the best illustrations of change is nature. A simple seed can become a fruit or vegetable or beautiful flower. How God does it I’ll never know but all I can say is that these Bajan cherries harvested directly from under the massive cherry tree in my backyard where absolutely delish!

PS: my son maturing into manhood is actually a pretty impressive illustration of change too 🙂
