Rainbows do come in boxes :)

Wax crayons

How many boxes of waxed crayons did you have as a child? Seems as though we had hundreds!

We were always amazed at the colors, maybe because there were so many of them: several shades of green, a variety of blues and let’s not talk about the pinks and purples! Do you see what it says on this box? There are 64 different (smooth and vibrant) colors and this box came with a bonus: a sharpener.  I didn’t get to speak to the particular owners of this awesome container but it would have been great to get their take on why they felt their dad needed to keep it in such a prominent place on his office desk.

I can say without a shadow of doubt that these wonderful boxes of rainbows brought me hours upon hours of joy … well mostly anyways and except for those few painful times when I transitioned to walls as an alternate surface to paper …

So this is my fun second submission for this week’s WordPress Photo Challenge: ROY G. BIV but just before I go, let’s remember:

“Life is like a box of crayons. Most people are the 8-color boxes, but what you’re really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back. I fancy myself to be a 64-color box, though I’ve got a few missing.”  John Mayer

“My family could only afford to get me the box of eight Crayola crayons, but I craved the one with all 24 colours. I wanted magenta and turquoise and silver and gold.”  Joni Mitchell
