Roll Call: All Caterpillars Converge!!!

Was out one evening recently for a short jog around my neighborhood when I came across these amazing extra large, extra beautiful, extra hungry caterpillars converging on a hedge. Apart from being a striking contrast of black bodies with thick yellow bands against orange feet and heads, these caterpillars are in fact quite dangerous to certain plants and can demolish an entire garden in a matter of hours.

Am not sure of the species but guess based on the above they would also  be dangerous to humans because apparently they are very bad for those of us who love our gardens but have anger management issues; a combination which does not augur well for either party i.e. caterpillar or human (as shared with me by a close friend).

I’m just glad they don’t bite joggers or get any bigger … just saying.

  1. They’re quite creepy looking. How many were there?

  2. Oh my, they can be destructive.

    • Yes, and when I checked out that particular bush this morning while jogging the top was completely gone! Thanks for commenting … will keep you updated and hope you never get to see any of these creatures yourself 🙂

  3. Nice “converge” post! Those caterpillars are kind of gross but also kind of fascinating.
