Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.
Jeremiah 32:17 (NIV)
Do you know anyone who can create a flower or a blade of grass from scratch? Do you have a friend who can make a wave roll on to and then recede from the beach just like that? I am sure you must have a relative who can create a grain of sand or a starfish or a cute kitten … maybe they can form a tree complete with leaves and bark and roots?
I remember God reminding me one day as I sat in my car looking out at the ocean, that we put our trust in men and look to them to do things for us they can never truly do. We put them on pedestals, hoping not to be betrayed or hurt, but dying little deaths every day as our hopes are dashed again and again. Why do we embrace idols which yield little to no return on our life investments when God can give us more than we could ever hope for?
As far as I know God is the only person who could make heaven and earth – and He did! He created the entire universe from the sun and moon in the sky to the fish in the sea. Best of all, he created us as unique special human beings gifted with the ability to love, procreate and love some more – with His help of course.
Nothing is too hard for our heavenly Father, absolutely nothing. So let’s celebrate this fact by giving Him all of the things we think are too big and too hard for us – because He’s the best person of all to handle life for us.
