“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.” Isaiah 43:25 (NIV)
You made a mistake. You regret it big time. You said words you wish you could take back. You did something to get back at someone. You told a little white lie that’s become a big black cloud hanging over your head. Where is the rewind button when you need it?
Now you feel like crap. You can’t forgive yourself. The person you offended, even if unintentionally, cannot forgive you. It’s one huge mess. But luckily, there is someone who is not like us; someone who no matter how many times we foul up, bleep or blunder will receive our repentant hearts and lovingly forgive us.
He won’t say things like: “How many times am I going to have to tell you not to …..” or “How much longer are you going to keep doing the same thing over and over again even though you know it’s wrong?” or “That was absolutely your last chance!!!”
He’s going to tell you your sins have been forgiven and not only mean it, but remember them no more. Relief! I may not have a ‘life do-over’ button to click and start over from the beginning but I am truly glad my heavenly father is a God of second chances and genuine unconditional love – what about you?
