What an interesting concept for Black History month and wouldn’t it be great if we could do something like this in honor of our Caribbean/Barbados forefathers (and mothers)? We can be who we are today because of the paths diligently cleared for us by our ancestors yesterday. This is not something that should be taken lightly and I feel we should be able to find at least one amazing person to highlight for each day of February … Do you agree?
Our thanks to #curlycrownconection (a beautiful Brit/Barbadian/Bajan) for sharing this post.
We scrolled through the pages with the inevitable “awwwww’s” and admirable laughter, however as we went through these adorable yet significantly powerful images, a few things became oh-so clear.
- Some of the images represented trail blazers we did not even know existed such as Don Thompson (President and CEO of McDonalds), or Dr. Alexa Canady (First female African-American Neurosurgeon).
- There is no way that Black History can be crammed into one month (February in the US and October in the UK).
- We wanted to support this photographer’s fabulous and contemporary efforts to revere so many positive images.
